Educational creativity

      While teaching preschool, I was very lucky to have some of the best and kindest parents.  I always got wonderful gifts for Christmas and at the end of the year.  It made me feel very special.  So, when I became a parent, I wanted to make sure I was one of those parents who tried to make the teacher feel special.  My daughter and I work together to make something special for her teacher. This was last years experiment.  Edible Crayons & Candy Pencils This year we are making a personalized clipboard and matching pens.  It will be included in a basket with other fun things like stickers and post it notes.  Both of these cute ideas I saw on pinterest and are pretty simple.  pretty clip board Supplies: Wooden clip board Scrapbook paper Ribbon Letter stickers Modge podge  (we found sparkle kind) Cover your clipboard using modge podge with scrapbook paper.  I used ribbon to hide the change of paper color.       We are planting sweet peas, my favorite vegetable.  They acctually like the cooler weather, so we are kind of late for Texas weather.       When I saw these in a teacher magazine, I knew I wanted it, but the price tag just turned me away every year.  I tried the plastic baggy from the window, but found they don't grow very big.  And as I learned you  do not put tape on the windows, or you'll be scrapping the windows to get the sticky stuff off.  If you could find another way to attach them to the window, maybe 3M hooks would work, they are great to see the roots of the plant.  But, I want to produce vegetables. I have lots of 2 litter bottles. Take the wrapper off.  Cut the top off the bottle.  Make sure it is clean.  Left over sugar will effect the growth of your plants.  (Interesting science experiment for later) Put dirt in the empty bottle.  Add seeds as close to the edge of the bottle as possible.  Make sure you water it well.  Watch the seeds sprout.  Plants

     Deborah at Teach Preschool  made some dot dabbers (also called bingo dots) for her school.  I have always loved these and bought a colored set of washable ones at the local teacher store.  They are very expensive, and when one child tries to use it like a paint brush, the little sponge comes off.  They have non washable ones at the Dollar Tree, but that can get you into some trouble.  I have seen refillable ones at the teacher store but never bought them.  Deborah says they didn't work out the way she wanted, so she made her own. You can see them  here .      As I was looking through my cabinet, I saw this bottle of formula which I am not using because I am breast feeding.  They are the premade ready to use by just putting on the nipple. I'm not sure if they sell them like this or if they just give them away at the hospital.  But they looked perfect.  And many people use formula, and if you know someone that works at the hospital, I think this is what they use.
