Learning Resources

Just because we are home doesn't mean we can't learn.  Parents are the child's first teachers.  At school we have extra resources.  Many companies and authors are reaching out or giving free resources to parents.  Check out the resources below.

Reading:  Authors are having read alouds online, companies like EPIC are giving out free trials, and other sites that have always been free are going to be your best friends.

-Get EPIC-  If you are in my class, I have set up a class of my favorite books.  You will get directions on how to log in.  If you are a great parent that likes free books that will help your child read, sign up for 30 days free.  When my daughter first started reading, she would not read with me.  She just wasn't confident with her skills and did not want to get words wrong.  But her teacher showed her EPIC, where books are read aloud or a click of the mouse will help with difficult words.

-Author read alouds-  Many authors are having daily or weekly read alouds you can tune into on Facebook, Instagram, or other forums.

If you have Facebook, follow Jennifer Garner.  She has a lot of celebrity readings.

If you want to see and listen to an astronaut read a story from space visit storytimefromspace.com

Oliver Jeffers.com   Click on Books, then Click on the STAY AT HOME STORY TIME button, then he'll read your child one of his books

Bruce Hale  is the author of the Clark the Shark stories.  Clark the Shark learns some great social skills.  This site even has activities you could do after listening to the story.

Pete the Cat by James Dean will be one of your child's favorite places.  My kids at school love Pete the Cat, and James Dean is a great musician that makes the books come alive.  There are activities you can do on this website, also.

Pig the Pug is a great social skill lesson book that the kids just loved to hear.  I bought it at my daughter's book fair then realized how great they are for my pre-k kids.  They laugh at pig and give him good advise on how to treat others.  Of course, I had to buy the other books when I saw them.

Let me know if you find a great one that your child loves to hear.  Share it in the comments, so we can all check it out.
